You will need some shelter from the harsh summer sun and here you have a couple of choices. You can go for either an awning or a parasol. Awnings are basically hard wearing synethic material stretched over a metal frame. The awning is ususally stored in a cannister on a property and can be opened out over a patio adjacent to a property. The disadvantage here is that as they are permanently attached to the property are not portable. Here a parasol is the answer. Parasols can vary in shapes -- you can get square, hexagonal, octagonal and round parsols -- and sizes -- normally range from 2.7 metres in diameters to 4 metres in diameters.
Just becuase a property has a patio or decking, does not mean there is neccessarily a garden as well. Either way, there is a great deal of pleasure in cultivating patio pots and it's bug business these days. Pot designs come in and out of fashion, but you can't go wrong with traditional terracota designs.
You may have noticed some pubs and restaurants have installed patio heaters, which means they can extend their outdoor season. There is no reason why you cannot do this as well. Patio heaters are widely available in all main diy stores and well worth investigating if you have the budget.
